The LIFE Empowerment Fund (LEF) is designed to address the lack of access to capital in Rural East Texas. The fund is also able to assist with the community's need to increase their credit scores through credit builder loans.

LIFE serves as a Kiva Trustee. Trustees are people or organizations that publicly vouch for entrepreneurs in their community for the Kiva program. Many entrepreneurs in the US struggle to access capital to launch or grow their business, and as a Trustee, we help empower entrepreneurs in our community with 0% interest Kiva loans.

As Trustees, we:

• Create a smoother review experience. When a borrower is endorsed by a successful trustee, they have an even easier time getting through the Kiva review process.

• Expand a borrower’s network. When a trustee endorses a borrower, the loan will be exposed to the trustee’s larger network and its visibility will be increased.

• Assist entrepreneurs. Use your own business experience and role in the community to advise borrowers and help their loan succeed.

In partnership with Georgia-Pacific, our LIFE Build carpentry apprentices build beds for children within our community who are currently sleeping on the floor. Georgia-Pacific provides the 2'x4' dimensional lumber at no cost because, like us, they are committed to ensuring that every child has a quality bed to sleep on.
